Meaning
A preposition can be monosemous (have only one meaning), most of them, though, are polysemous (have more than one meaning). The preposition seit, for example, has only a temporal meaning, while the preposition nach can have a temporal, spatial or modal meaning.

Prepositions are divided in two groups, Prepositions I and Prepositions II, depending on the frequency of their occurrence. The first group includes the most frequently used prepositions.
