etwas / nichts

Meaning : The pronoun etwas refers to a non-specific thing that is not further defined. The pronoun nichts is the negation of etwas, and means "nothing".

1.To emphasize the indefiniteness, the pronoun etwas can be combined with "irgend-" (irgendetwas).

2. If etwas or nichts is followed by a nominalized adjective, this adjective is of the neuter gender singular and is inflected according to the rules of the third declension of adjectives.
