Positive degree

An adjective in the positive degree simply denotes a property without making a comparison.

On the other hand, the positive degree can also be used to denote that two or more entities or things share a property in the same degree, thus expressing equality between them. In this case, the positive degree is used in combination with the words so and wie.

positive	Der Porsche ist so teuer wie der Mercedes.
	Paul ist so groß wie Laura.
	Sabine singt so schön wie ihre Schwester.

The use of the positive degree in negation expresses inequality.
