The preposition "vor" has the following meanings.

	temporal	Example
1	indicates a point in time that precedes another point in time or an event	Das geschah einen Tag vor seiner Abreise.
2	indicates a point in time that precedes a (certain) time period	Der Dichter wurde hier vor zweihundert Jahren geboren.
3	indicates a chronological order	Vor den Nachrichten lief eine Musiksendung.

	spatial	Example
1	denotes the space in front of something, in reference to the speaker	Kannst du vor dem Kino auf mich warten?
2	denotes the movement in front of something, in reference to the speaker	Sie stellte sich vor den Spiegel.
3	in a figurative manner, it denotes hierarchy	Der Größe nach kommt Leipzig vor Dresden.

	causal	Example
1	denotes the cause behind a state, an emotion that is expressed impulsively	Sie strahlt vor Freude.

	other meanings	Example
