Declarative clauses

 

Declarative clauses express an assumption or a statement over a fact that can either be true or false.

 

Examples
Patrick besucht uns morgen.
Jemand hat an der Tür geklopft.
Hans müsste um diese Zeit zu Hause sein.

 

 

Declarative sentences have the following features:

 

position of the finite verb at the second position
mood indicative
Konjunktiv II
intonation descending
punctuation mark full stop or comma
